Special Fund for International Academic Conferences

Purpose
In order to support and encourage international students of HIT to attend high-level international academic conferences, and to provide opportunities of international academic communications, as well as to improve influences of HIT at the international level, College of International Education (CIE) set up special fund for International Academic conferences.

Eligibility 
1) Applicants must be full-time international students of HIT.
2) International conferences should be Sequential Academic Conference held by international authorized academic organizations in the research field and must get supervisor’s recognition. Once verified as non-authorized conference, CIE will stop all the support.
3) Must be the first author, and clearly invited for oral presentation (affiliated institution of the first author should be Harbin Institute of Technology, and the supervisor should be one of the authors).
4) The paper should be accepted by conference proceedings.
5) Each international student can apply for the conference twice during their study at HIT, once in China, once out of China.
6) Each international conference only funds one international student to attend on the principle of first come first served. 

Funding Standards
International conference held in China:
Limit of traveling expenses: no more than 3000 yuan.
International conference held out of China:
Limit of traveling expenses: no more than 5000 yuan for Asian countries; no more than 10000 yuan for other countries;
Limit of international conference registration fee: no more than 500 US dollars

Students should pay for the fees by themselves first, after attending conference, CIE will reimburse according to the actual expenses. CIE will only reimburse the fees for those who attend the international conference. For those who fail to attend the international conference regardless any reasons, students should pay for the fees by themselves, i.e. CIE will not reimburse any expenses.

Other
The regulations of special funds for international academic conferences have been revised; and will go into effect on the day of its promulgation. CIE of HIT is responsible for the interpretation. Previous regulations have been abolished.
